About us

A farm built one block at a time

Skybound Orange Farms started as a single planted block and grew into a working commercial grove, still family-run, still managed from the field rather than an office.

Our story

We planted before we had buyers

The first trees went into the ground because the land was right, not because there was an order waiting. That order came later, and when it did we learned very quickly that growing good fruit and reliably delivering good fruit are two different businesses.

So we built the second one. A packhouse, a grading line, cold storage, and the records to tie a crate back to the row it came from. It is unglamorous infrastructure, and it is the reason buyers come back to us.

Today the farm runs across multiple planted blocks, supplies distributors and households alike, and raises seedlings for growers who are where we were at the start.

“Anyone can sell you fruit once. The work is in being the same farm every season.”

What we stand on

Four things we do not compromise

  • The soil comes first

We test, correct and rest our blocks. A grove that is pushed too hard pays for it three seasons later, and we intend to still be farming this land then.

  • Say the real number

If we can only fill eight tonnes of a ten-tonne order, we say eight. Buyers plan around our word, and an honest shortfall costs less than a broken promise.

  • People stay

Our crews are trained and kept on year-round rather than hired at harvest and dropped. Skilled hands pick better fruit and damage less of it.

  • Lift the growers around us

The farms next to ours are not competition. They are the reason the region can attract serious buyers at all. We supply them seedlings and advice.
